Short CV

Nikolaos Koios was born in Larissa in 1971. He finished his University Studies at the Department of Theology of the University of Athens. He studied Bioethics at postgraduate level with external and internal scholarships at the University of Munich and the Hastings Bioethics Research Center in New York. He served as a theology teacher for a decade in secondary education. He was a scientific associate of the Department of Orthodox Theology of the University of Munich. From 2010 to 2023 he served as an assistant and associate professor at the Supreme Ecclesiastical Academies of Thessaloniki and Athens. He is a member of the Pastoral Training Institute of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece. From 2011 until today, he has been the content coordinator of the online magazine “Pemptousia” (www.pemptousia.gr). He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Open University (HOU) at the PMS “Studies in Orthodox Theology” and teaches at the PMS He has participated in Greek, international and world conferences as an invited speaker. His articles are published in scientific journals in Greece and abroad. His published books are: Ethical Consideration of Technical Interventions in the Human Genome, Athens 2003, Called to Freedom: Autonomy and Heteronomy in Ethics, Athens 2006, Experience and Theology According to Elder Sophronius Sakharov, Mount Athos 2012 (3rd Edition) ), Bioethics: Synodical Texts of Orthodox Churches, Athens 2007, Chapters of Applied Ethics, Thessaloniki 2022. In June 2023, he was elected associate professor of the Theology Department of the Theological School of the University of Athens. and in November, after being sworn in, he took office.
