Brief CV

Niki Papageorgiou is professor of Sociology of Religion and Ethics at the School of Theology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He studied Theology at the Aristotle University and Sociology of Religion at the Roman Catholic University of Louvain-La-Neuve. He teaches Sociology of Religion and Christianity, Introduction to Ethics, Religion and society in post-colonial Greece, Religion and immigration. Her main publications are: The Church in modern Greek society. Linguistic-sociological analysis of the Circulars of the Holy Synod, Ed. P. Pournara, Thessaloniki 2001, Transfigurations of the sanctuary. Sociology and Religion in the work of Marcel Mauss, Ed. P. Pournara, Thessaloniki 2005, Religion and immigration. The Sikh community in Greece, Ed. K. Sfakianaki, Thessaloniki 2011, “Migration as a possible source of religious conflicts: The intervention of policy makers”, in Erik Eynikel, Angeliki Ziaka (eds), Religion and Conflict, Harptree Publishing, London 2011, pp. 278-305, “Sikhs Immigrants in Greece: On the Road to Integration”, Knut Jacobsen & Kristina Myrvold (eds), Sikhs in Europe: Migration, Identities and Representations, Asghate, Burlington 2011, pp. 200-222. She has many publications in collective volumes and magazines and participation in various conferences on topics of her specialty. He is vice president of the Hellenic Society for Middle Eastern Studies and a member of international study and research companies in the Sociology of Religion.
