Mr. Dimitrios Papazis was born in Thessaloniki, where he studied Theology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He did his postgraduate studies in the historical branch of the Department of Theology of the same Faculty, where he received his Master’s and Doctoral degrees, and at the Postgraduate Institute of Ecumenical-Patristic Greek-Byzantine Theology San Nicola in Bari, where he attended the first cycle of the Licenza course on scholarship. He served as Theology Professor of Higher Pedagogical Schools at the Higher Ecclesiastical Schools of Crete and Thessaloniki (1994-2008) and as Associate Professor and First Degree Professor at the Higher Ecclesiastical Academies of Thessaloniki and Athens (2008-2023). His research interests focus on the use of archival documents and other primary sources concerning the historical path of the Orthodox Church and the split of the Christian world in the West into Roman Catholics and Protestants, especially in the thematic areas: History of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Church of Greece with emphasis on the recent and contemporary history of institutions, monasteries and ecclesiastical personalities.
