Panagiotis No. Yfantis was born in Athens in 1966. He studied Theology (1983-1987) at the Department of Theology of EKPA. Subsequently, with a scholarship from the Pontifical Committee for the Promotion of Christian Unity (Conseil Pontifical pour la promotion de l’unité des Chrétiens) he was trained at the Postgraduate Department of Ecumenical Studies “San Nicola” in Bari, Italy (1988-1990), with specialization in Ecclesiastical History (grade Summa cum Laude) and conducted archival research in the archives of Progadanda Fidei in Rome (1990-1991). In 1993 he received the Prize of Letters and Arts of the Academy of Athens for the writing of an original historical study on “The contribution of the Holy Monastery of the Great Cave of Kalavrita to the national and spiritual life of the Nation until the end of World War II.” From 1995 to 2006 he worked as a theological professor in Secondary Education and from 2004 to 2006 as a part-time professor at the Higher Ecclesiastical Academy of Crete. In 2004 he defended his doctoral dissertation at the Department of Theology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki on “The theology of Francis of Assisi. Orthodox critical approach “(grade Excellent). In September 2006 he was appointed Lecturer in the Department of Ecclesiastical History, Christian Secretariat, Archeology and Art of the Department of Theology of AUTh. and in August 2010 Assistant Professor in the same Department. His research interests include the study of monasticism and ascetic literature in the East and the West, the comparative study between Orthodox and Western theology and spirituality from the time of the schism to the present day, the identification and interpretation of models of Christian holiness. and their evolution in space and time, the exploration of the relationship between culture and theology as well as the contemporary trends of Western theological thought. He has participated in international scientific conferences and has published scientific monographs and articles in collective works as well as in Greek and Italian journals. He has translated sources of early Franciscanism, scientific works, essays and literature. In addition, he has published two collections of poetry and scattered poems in literary magazines.
